Aura Salla voted for UNRWA as it is a core humanitarian actor contributing to more than half of all humanitarian operations in the Middle East region. The occurring human suffering demands the EU to continue supporting UNRWA, especially after the escalation of events in Lebanon. UNRWA’s infrastructure is essential and like the European Council stated (on 17th October 2024), the implementation of the UNRWA Action plan is key in providing support to civilians in Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East region. Furthermore, the Commission has made clear that UNRWA meets all the conditions the Commission has set for it. Voting in UNRWA’s favour is the only humane and ethical action to take at the time of civilian suffering.
