My political work focuses on strengthening the European Union’s economy, competitiveness and productivity. By doing so, we can safeguard the future of Europe’s welfare societies, develop effective ways to address the climate crisis, and reinforce Europe’s geopolitical position, technological sovereignty and overall security.
The European Union is founded on the rule of law and on respect for democracy, freedom of expression and individual liberty. Open markets and a productive economy are essential tools for promoting equality of opportunity, strengthening education and skills, creating the conditions for companies to grow and citizens to prosper, and ensuring that the European Union has the talent and expertise it needs both now and in the future.
I focus my political work on areas where the European Union has the competence to act. At present, one of my key priorities is strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty. Choosing European technology is a matter of security, economic policy and competitiveness. It also strengthens Europe’s position in an increasingly geopolitical world.
