The European Commission’s AI strategy launched in Strasbourg Plenary in early October is yet again repeating the same problems without offering any solutions. They focus on building apps for farmers, handing public money and they speak about “simplification” and sovereignty but at the same time they will propose new regulation on “digital fairness”.
☝️ Real digital sovereignty means having the capacity to scale and option to choose European critical technology. For this, our companies need to be able to TAKE A RISK!
Now we have a maze of regulation, we don’t have a harmonised market and we are lacking risk capital.
☝️ We must address the real problems with American and Chinese companies and stop handing our data for them for free.
☝️ We must put European companies first in our public procurement.
