Today (16.1.2025), in the ITRE Committee meeting, MEP Aura Salla (EPP) posed an important question to Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra regarding the EU’s approach to carbon management. Highlighting the importance of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies as both a climate mitigation tool and a business opportunity, Salla emphasized the need for the EU to establish itself as a global leader in this field.
Her question focused on how the Commission plans to balance economic competitiveness and energy affordability while fostering innovation and industrial development. She also stressed the importance of effective coordination between climate, industrial, and innovation policies to ensure a sustainable and balanced transition.
